Healthy Work Habits

• Get out of your chair regularly through out the day.
• Avoid extended periods of continuous computer use by taking short breaks or performing other tasks intermittently between    periods spent on the computer. A maximum of 40 minutes continuous computer use at any one time is recommended.
• Avoid pounding on the keys while typing.
• Place frequently used equipment and objects within functional (easy) reach.
• Take stretch/exercise breaks every 40 minutes during your work day. It just takes a few seconds to enhance your productivity.
• Adjust the screen contrast and brightness to reduce glare and produce a clear character definition. Less eye strain usually    means less neck pain.
• Organise the work area to provide sufficient space for the variety of tasks undertaken.
• Follow the recommendations for good sitting posture at the workstation thus reducing muscle fatigue.
• Keep physically fit by exercising regularly. Good cardiovascular fitness enhances your energy for your job.
• Maintain a constant awareness of preferred neutral postures not only at work, but in all modes of your life. Your health follows you wherever you go.
• Attend to persistent aches and pains by seeking the advice from your physiotherapist.
