Ergonomic Assessments

With advancing technology and increased automation, individuals are spending more time at their workstations. The corresponding increase in prolonged sitting subjects the body, particularly the spine, to additional strain and as a consequence health and safety issues have become real concerns.
Prolonged sitting can place stress and strain on muscles, joints ligaments and nerves in the neck, upper back, shoulders and low back. Sitting with poor posture complicated by an ergonomically challenging workstation, increases the physical stresses for the spine. If these stresses are allowed to continue, eventual breakdown of the tissue will occur, causing pain, swelling, muscle spasm and weakness. On-site assessments take approximately one hour at an individual’s workplace and include:

* Job/Task analysis
* Subjective complaints noted
* Basic risk assessment
* Equipment assessment
* Current equipment adjusted as appropriate
* Working practice and posture review
* Anthropometric measurements
* Recommendations for changes to existing workstation layout
* Strategies to reduce injuries

A detailed report is provided to the client. This report will highlight areas that need attention and provide recommendations to improve working practice and postures, as well as an action plan for feasible modifications.
