CANADIAN NATIONAL RACQUETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
EDMONTON, MAY, 2006

7 8

In late May, Bob travelled to Edmonton for the 2006 Canadian National Racquetball Championships which were held at the Mayfield Athletic Club. This National Tournament was the biggest in over 10 years with 250 entrants. Featured at this tournament were Christie Van Hees (Kelowna) and Kane Waselenchuk (Edmonton) who are, respectively, the #1 players in the World with their many victories on the U.S. based Professional Tour over the past few years. The competition was fierce, not only for the National Title, but also because
there were National Team positions available for the upcoming World Championships. Both Christie and Kane performed strongly in the finals to win the coveted National Titles against Jen Saunders (Winnipeg) and Mike Green (Burlington). Bob not only kept the National Team Players in good form, but was also the medical consult for the many injuries in the amateur divisions.

During August, 2006, Bob will be travelling with the Canadian Team to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, for the 13th World Racquetball Championships. These Championships are held every 2 years and over 30 countries will be represented this year. The tournament is divided into an Individual competition (Men’s and Women’s Singles & Doubles Titles) and a Team competition (Men’s, Women’s and Overall Team
Titles). The Canadian Team will be a strong contender to regain the Overall World Team Trophy, which they won in 2000, as well as the Men’s Team Trophy, which they won in 2000 and 2002. The Canadians also have an excellent opportunity to bring home Individual World Titles in both the singles and doubles events.
