Corinne Skrobot, physiotherapist, recently joined the group of physiotherapists at Jericho Sports and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy clinic. She is available for appointments on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.
Corinne graduated from the University of Alberta in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitative Medicine. Since graduating she has worked primarily in private practice enhancing her manual orthopaedic skills. Corinne has also been a workplace consultant for BC Hydro. In 2005, her professional development took her twice to San Francisco and to New York and the Queen Charlottes. In June, Corinne completed a course on the Pelvis and Uropelvic system involving new approaches to the biomechanics of the pelvic cavity and urogenital system. The course examined the effects of subtle and chronic influences of the lower abdominal area affecting whole body mechanics. In July, Corinne attended a workshop in New York on the Osteopathic Approach to Trauma and Whiplash. This course focused on how traumatic forces are absorbed in the body and how we, as therapists, can help reduce the impact of the trauma.
In August, she attended a week long intensive Iyengar yoga retreat in Tlell on the Charlottes. Corinne strives to combine the principles of mindful yoga poses with her manual therapy approach to the release of fascial restrictions in the body. In September, she studied the Functional Biomechanics of the Head, Neck and Thoracic Cavity at a workshop in San Francisco. This workshop explored the relationship of fascial restrictions in respiration and circulation and how they affect movement patterns in the body.
Corinne is committed to professional development. She is excited about joining the team of therapists at Jericho where there is a strong emphasis on continuing education and where therapists use conventional and alternative skills in the treatment of the whole person.
